Welcome to Originals by Karl-Heinz Durynek
Karl-Heinz Durynek has followed his passion for fine art for the past 40 years as a student, painter and admirer of all art mediums. As a self-taught artist, Karl has found the presentation with watercolours to be a perfect fit for the expression for his art. Drawing from his personal connection to nature, he fashions pieces that aim to evoke our deep emotional associations with the colour, intensity and scenery of the world we inhabit. Through the use of watercolour, Karl searches for the often-missed details of the landscape, exemplifying the texture and vividness of a pristine flower or glorious mountain range. Ever a student of nature, Karl is an avid photographer, capturing nuanced moments in time as the inspiration for his paintings.

At a very early age Karl’s love for drawing and expressing himself through art was always with him. In early 2000’s Karl started experimenting with the use of watercolours for his paintings. He found this medium a perfect match that allowed him to build up layers of these transparent colours resulting in the vibrancy of his paintings. This self-taught artist is a current member of the Calgary Artist Society and is starting to see his talent evolve through developing his own style.
Karl’s Paintings have been shown in 2018 Western Art Gallery Calgary Stampede.
